Mercy
Each of us needs mercy. We are broken, suffering the effects of our own fallenness,
as well as the problems in our world. The gospel is God’s answer to our sin. But
our needs are not only spiritual; they’re physical. And the same applies to those
around us. We not only offer words to people. We offer deeds. Our Lord is a compassionate
God who cares for the fatherless and the widow, fights for the oppressed, lifts
up the poor, and defends the defenseless. We long to image his mercy to a hurting
world.
